It’s very important that you choose the right niche, or (market) to get into before you do anything else because, picking the right niche can actually mean the difference between making a lot of money and failing miserably! That is why I chose to talk about this subject first. Here is my own personal 3 part formula for picking a winner.
Part One: Does It Address A Fear, Passion, or Problem
These three areas are always a great place to start when it comes to trying to find potential customers.
People with fears of mice would love to buy your ebook that contains a quick solution to getting over that fear.
Those who enjoy video games would be more than happy to come visit your website that offers tips on how to beat a popular game.
Finally someone with insomnia would probably buy your product if it could help them get to sleep.
Remember the key to this is your product has to have real value in order for this to be effective.
Part Two: Is There A Potential Market
You have to make sure that people are actually looking for what you want to sell. This can be done by doing simple keyword research.
For example if you wanted to find out how many people were searching for dog training every month, you would just type that phrase into a keyword tool and take a look at the results.
When I am searching for my keywords I like to choose keywords that have between 3,000 and 25,000 searches a month.
Part Three: Does It Have Low Competition
Another thing you want to be on the lookout for is high competition. Getting into a niche that has a high rate of competition can kill your chases of ever ranking at the top of google’s first page and getting traffic back to your website.
You can check out the competition for a particular keyword by typing it into google inside of quote and looking at the number of search results.
I like to keep my competition at about 20,000 or less.
If you can find a niche that answers all of the above questions with a YES then, you’ve got a winner!
